Japan Charity Nike Toki
Let me start this off by saying that this is THE FIRST time I’ve ever done anything charitable in my life and creating these was pretty much a labor of love throughout the whole entire process, knowing that in the back of my head that I wasn’t getting paid for these and all the money was going to GlobalGiving.org’s Japan Tsunami and Earthquake Relief Fund. We all know about the disastrous events that happened in Japan. I had first found out about what was happening through my friends tweeting #prayforjapan, and upon further investigation I was able to catch everything really early as they started to happen. Basically sitting there watching everything develop on TV news, flipping through CNN, Fox, CBS, ABC, when it first started at like 1-2 am and witnessing the amount of destruction that mother nature was causing is what honestly compelled me to try and do something, anything to try to help the people of Japan. It was surreal watching the amount of damage that was done. So I figured I might as well use my skills as an artist to raise some money to donate to charity. This is where the shoes came in and I auctioned off the shoes on eBay and was able to sell them for $346 which I donated entirely to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.
